Soilpod
Soilpods are a more heat-tolerant variety of Rootfroots, often found in northwest Glicker. Their “fruit” have taken on a brighter, carotenoid-based hue in order to be more easily seen. They also emit a strong scent that attracts not only swinetroks, but other herbivorous arthrotheres as well. This has led the plant to mostly lose its toxin-producing ability, with no toxins present in the fruit. The fruit takes a month to develop a new crystal after ripening. This new crystal grows inside of the fruit, and is protected by a hard, seed-like coating. Soilpods will usually fruit the most in late summer and early fall, though these times may vary by region and individual. Somewhat convergently with the Grey Crystalbane, they release a pheromone underground that allows Soilpods to detect each other and exchange genetic material at close range. The life cycles of asexually and sexually produced Soilpods are the same. Soilpods are usually found in large groups, but do not make dense fields consisting only of themselves.
